We are back at Peckham Levels for another NYJO show! If you haven’t spun the prior two I’ve attended with Theon Cross and Jasmine Myra then go ahead and get into those for more context.
For this one, the guest is top tier Drummer Jas Kayser who I have covered once this year for her set at Jazz Re:Fest. Such a good day that was.
I got there mad early which was annoying because I could’ve gotten something to eat before I left but it is what it is.
I was interested in the different set up they had for this show. You’ll get a sense for it as we go but the drum kit in the middle looked great. I was really looking forward to this session.
We will go from person to person like I did with the Jasmine Myra show, NYJO provided a QR code throughout the spot with everyone involved which is great for me as someone who likes to capture everyone.

I got a lot of shots of them looking at each other which not only makes for good shots but in the moment – being that close – makes you feel like you’re watching true collaboration in real time.
