My three days of cooking culminate on this ever-growing portfolio with the one in between my two visits to Lazy Days Festival.
Jazz Re:fest – by the good people at Jazz Re:Freshed – is a day festival that has been going for over a decade at this point. Which makes me wonder how the hell is this my first time hitting it but we got there in the end!
I have six acts for you and a couple moments on the side so let's waste no time.
We begin with a Saxophonist/Compser/Producer that's new to my ears but great timing since she released a five-track EP earlier in the year. This is Allexa Nava.
Next was a little break to check out the DJ sets happening outside. This whole event was Free.99 by the way!
I took some shots of people dancing and the only ones I liked was of this kid in a Basketball jersey.
Something I will give big respect to is the timings. Half hour sets (excluding the final set) and half an hour in between them. It was a tight schedule and they were near enough on time throughout.
Anyway. Next set and one of my favourites from a Photography standpoint: Vocalist/Songwriter/Bass player Isobella Burnham.
One time for the DJs keeping the vibes going during the intervals. Here are a few shots of Mikey Futuristic.
The next act was my favourite of the day from a performance perspective, which is saying something considering the final act.
This is Wolverhampton MC/Producer NEONE The Wonderer. (Pronounced “Anyone”.)
After that we had another DJ coming through for the rest of the intervals. This is the epically named DJ Steve Austin. (Hell Yeah!)
Next up on the stage at The Clore Ballroom in the wonderful South Bank Centre was Drummer Jas Kayser.
One time for Jamie Leeming on guitar there who we saw perform at the Sekito Showcase a few years back!
The penultimate performance was an artist I have not just covered before (in a very brief manner) but was featured in The 50 Pack Top 10! This is Multi-instrumentalist/Producer/Musical Director DoomCannon. (On Keys.)
And before we get to the final act, we take a walk outside of South Bank Centre with a good friend and conveniently currently employed at The South Bank Centre!
Gabrielle returns after making her debut on this journey during Cross The Tracks earlier this year.
And now we have our final act for this post – probably the most covered act on here, having been featured in one of my earliest posts and another a last year.
This is Jazztronica duo Blue Lab Beats.
This was such a well done event that I was going to gass up the handouts they were giving out for the event. Had amazing bios for the artists, the schedule, links to cop merch from Jazz Re:Freshed & the artists and when you unfurled it all, would turn into a poster for the event!
And I LOST mine! So devastated. But I’ll always have these photos and good memories of the day.
