Sekito Records

Showcase

Date Taken: 9th December 2022

Back at The Jazz Cafe for my final show of 2022. This one is triple-header, showcasing the talents of the Sekito Records roster.

Sekito & Alfa

Sekito Records is an independent label, created by UK Jazz staple Alfa Mist.

Whilst the label is only a few years old, the roster is already strong and abundant in talent.

And whilst Alfa Mist was present and made a cameo on keys throughout the night, the showcase was for three artists.

First, bass player Rudi Creswick:

Rudi Creswick

His set was built around his '22 debut album “Different Forms”, which actually made my album list!

Big skateboarder vibes aesthetically but crafts a great vibe musically.

Jamie Leeming

Guitarist Jamie Leeming also showcased work from his '22 album “Resynthesis”. Very abstract and multi-layered style to his music; undeniable skills with the strings.

JSPHYNX

Trumpeter JSPHYNX did not drop an album in 2022, but he is dropping in 2023 with an album of his own called “Reflex”. He also had the other Creswick & Leeming on his set, which was a nice touch.

As showcases go, this was a great success for the Sekito label. All three had great energy, great guests to spice things up and showed their talents well to a great crowd.

Bred in Leigh-On-Sea, Essex.
