My 1st

Recipe

Part One

Ever since I discovered Fujifilm recipes, I have been fascinated with creating an arsenal where I’d be good in every situation.

And feel like I’ve nailed that.

But with that said, I still wanted to try my hand at creating my own. As you can see, this is Part One. I label it that because I’m not done with tweaking it. Even as I was editing the photos for this set I immediately changed the settings for the next time I give it a go.

Along with this post, there are also a few recent posts you can peep for more examples of the recipe:

And now we have this! We begin with a Fox…

One thing I want to highlight throughout is colours. I really wanted to have a recipe that didn't lean red. A lot of recipes lean red in some way. I wanted something that just isn't red-centric. So no brown like E. Fung Vintage.

Neutral but with personality was my aim! And as you'll see, this recipe does have personality.

Next mini-set is covering parts of my nephew Damian's birthday.

One thing that I learned from this day out was that faces not directly in the sunlight suffered in the foreground whereas the background sky looked perfect.

So this recipe isn't quite as universal as I'd like.

BUT. Mary has given them the seal of approval, so that's a plus.

Next is the dog because it's not a recipe test without him.

I love the blue hues here. Not too crazy like a night-time recipe but just enough to be true-to-life.

Next and the biggest mini-set is my first time seeing a DJ AG livestream in person at Shepherd's Bush Market! Invited by Jashima, (who made her first appearance on this journey at my first Notting Hill Carnival experience) she was in the country managing her artist Rashmeet Kaur.

Shouts to DJ Limelight who was the go-between for this. Really cool seeing DJ AG in person, he’s doing great work.

We then waited outside for a bit and I was really into this light that was changing colours over time, so I got to shooting as the many contacts in Jashima’s rolodex chatted.

The last two were on the way back. Extra points if you can guess the station.

Last mini-set comes from the Black Writer’s Conference which was hosted this time in Shoreditch.

Notice the colours again here.

Was a very good day of networking. Shouts to everyone I talked to and got a photo of!

I feel like I have something with this recipe but I still want to make tweaks and find a balance. I like how the colours stay true to the environment more or less but there are still some moments where it doesn’t work.

Part Two will come! Someday…
