Ghost-Note

@ The Jazz Café

Date Taken: 1st June 2026

We kick off June with two great acts over in the Greatest Place on Earth: The Jazz Café.

This was probably the first show where I took more photos of the support act than the headline. Two reasons, one that'll become obvious as we go: The lighting and I left early to catch a train.

Either way, I'll be hitting the highlights which really boiled down to particular moments in the individual performances that really hit when it came to the lighting. Outside of those moments the lighting was very minimal & hard to capture some of the respective bands!

But we got there in the end.

We begin with Drum-led support LOX who I have covered several times before as part of other bands. Such as assisting DoomCannon during Jazz Re:Fest '25 and Blue Lab Beats @ LR91. Now he's got his own album coming and this was a taste of what's to come.

First highlight was Steel Pan player Leon "Foster" Thomas going off and the lighting really pulled through here.

Next during this set were Piano/Keys duo Laurie Milton & INSXGHT. Loved playing with the negative space with these.

Next highlight was Bass player Manny Simelane where once again the lighting was cooking crazy as he did a solo halfway through.

Last one for the support is Ben Glasser on Guitar and the lead of the band, LOX.

And now we get to the headliners in Ghost-Note!

We begin with the Sax, Flute & Trombone players: Jonathan Mones & Daniel Wytanis. There was another Flute player featured for one song but their management didn’t give me his name.

Next batch contains Robert Searight on Drums, Peter Knudsen on Guitar & Justin McKinney on Bass.

And best for last, Dominique Taplin & Mackenzie Green on vocals.

This was one of those shows where in the moment I felt like I was struggling and in the grand scheme, I got less photos worth editing than I typically do.

But damn when it was quality, it was some of my best. Thoroughly enjoyed the challenge with this one.
