One of my Top 5 All-Time is back in my favourite place on Earth for a very special show.

After his return late last year with producer Marco Polo in tow, it was announced sometime after that Ace will return quicker than most thought, to do a show he's never done before.

I messaged him soon after the announcement and he accepted me once again. Still crazy that I have a direct line to such a special artist.

What made this show different from all the others wasn't just that it was celebrating his album "Disposable Arts", it wasn't just that he was going to perform the album front-to-back, it was also a show with a live band instead of a producer/DJ behind him.

The band in question was Czech-based Champion Sound. They handled everything, including the timing of the interludes and the VT to go along with it! Let's cover them first…

And now we get to Masta Ace where he made the effort of multiple wardrobe switches to represent the characters he portrays as in the album, something I’m confident he’s never done before! So I’ll make the effort to stagger the next batches to the fits.

After the great jacket, he then came back in a bath robe which got a chuckle out of everyone.

The lighting stayed pretty much the same for the next fit and the next part of the album.

If you haven’t listened to Disposable Arts or any Masta Ace album, I highly recommend. They all tell a story one way or another in a way not may Hip-Hop artists do.

It wouldn’t be a Masta Ace show without fellow artist and wifey Leschea to come through! She doesn’t participate in the fit changes but their dynamic on stage together is always a great wrinkle to the performance overall!

I also moved to my 75mm after a stint with my 35mm.

We head back to Ace and continuing with the monochromes

The colours come back and the blues at this point in the show were just beautiful.

The fit changes once again to a “So Greedy Vs Everybody” shirt.

With two more left, we have Ace & Leschea enjoying their time on stage.

We finish on some monochromes and the show comes to a beautiful end.

I’ve been blessed to experience some great musicians in my two years of going for passes and telling these stories. But this’ll always be a highlight for me. To cover one of my Top 5 All-Time twice in a matter of months? And it was all from talking to the man himself.

Thanks to Masta Ace once again for the opportunity.

Until the next time…
