We are back in the excellent Islington Assembly Hall for a good show. I have a great enjoyment for this building, from the Makaya McCraven show, to the Venna show and of course my landmark coverage of Raquel Rodriguez last summer, I've always enjoyed my time here.
No different with this one as I roll up a little later than I wanted but didn't miss out on the support act: Essence Martins.
Let's switch things up and start with the colour set.
And now for the monochrome set in which I cooked a lot more.
Big ups to AC & Haydyn Bardoe who were also featured. Apparently they've been friends since Uni and it's clear when you watch them how good their creative chemistry is.
But now it was time for the main event: Ego Ella May.
We begin with the band that were surrounding her:
Drums: David Palmer
Percussion: K.K. Brown
Keys: Alex Wesson
Bass: Rosetta
Guitar: Cyn Brown-Mitchell (Who I've covered twice before! Way back in '22 for the Blues100 show & then at The Jazz Cafe Festival '24 as part of Eliza's band!)
Next we have the backing vocals in Kojo & Renee! I separate these two because I got a lot of them and I like to keep sets of photos around 20-30, so they get their own segment!
And now for the woman herself in Ego Ella May.(Pronounced Eh-Go)
We’ll begin with her monochromes.
And now we finish off with the colour set. It was so fun capturing her dark skin in the lighting provided. Super happy with these.
Another successful outing at the IAH… Thanks to Ego’s management for the opportunity!
