By my calculations, this might be a record only equal to Blue Lab Beats. This is the third post containing photos of artist ECKOES.
The other two include her headline show @ Laylow and some choice examples from another excellent performance done later in the year.
We arrive to Paper Dress Vintage, sitting on the iconic A107 bend where Hackney Central reigns over the road. You can see this post for the exact spot I'm talking about.
I love it. But I never been into PDV for anything. It's an interesting interior: By trade it's a vintage dress shop, but if you walk past the counter you see a bar/smoking area and if you take a left before that, you get to an intimate 1st floor space for live music.
It REALLY wants you to know it's a vintage dress shop – on the count of the dresses literally hanged on the walls – but as a vessel for live music, it's just my kinda vibe.
This is a landmark post for another reason: This is the first post that features both my 35mm – which has been my default for years now – and my new 75mm that has had some false starts due to my ignorance to how my own camera is set up.
It took a few tries, but we finally got there… Without the back cap to the 75 FUCK.
It was fine, I just put it on a flat surface and only picked it up when I was putting it back on the body.
Let's begin with the support act for ECKOES: An artist I wasn't aware of until that night but had some really fascinating sonic moments throughout. This is Animai.
The lighting wasn’t great for her. I don’t know if it was by design but with the sick visuals behind, it probably was by design. Either way, I made something happen!
Now onto ECKOES and with two lenses, the variety gets very interesting. Let’s start with the 75mm in colour.
Next, some 75 in Monochrome. I really like the look of these. I need to use this XP2 Super 400 recipe more.
I really want to be selective with the set but honestly the entirety of it brings me joy so lets continue with another colour block.
In the moment the amount of smoke felt a bit much to me but with the lighting it made for some of the best parts of this entire set.
We now change to the 35!
There was a long delay in between performances which forced me to leave with a couple of songs left. (Hate when I have to do that.) So I put my 75 back on and before leaving tried to get a couple more for the road.
Overall, I would mark this a great debut for my new lens. I can’t wait to hit some festivals with it, until then I will be happy that it made such a great debut.
Thanks to ECKOES once again.
