Been a while! Shouldn’t have left you.
As I breeze past 50 posts on this showcase of my Photography journey, I wanted to indulge more into specific photos that I have taken since last Summer.
This new series that I call “The 50 Pack” is a five-part series, showcasing 50 photos that I have taken since Mid-August '23. Hopefully you understand why I chose 50 since I’ve typed the number five times already, but I wanted to switch it up a bit and be selective in the photos I post for once.
I’m not sure whether I will do so after this series, but for now I want to talk about every photo I put on here in some capacity, with some mini-sets for brevity.
I don’t have a set theme for each part but I will say the final set will be my 10 favourites over the time span of August '23 to February '24.
Okay, enough tee up. Let’s dive in!
All The Books In The World
Captured during a solo trip to The V&A in London for their photography exhibits, I caught this photo whilst flicking through – you guessed it – a photo book!
Having homegirl in the frame was critical for making the shot what it is. But I love the big space around her as she obliviously looks into her phone instead.
I didn’t mean for commentary on how we’re on our phones too much yada yada but feel free to put on your critical thinking hat for this one.
Minor Acts of Love.
Some days I just have this confidence – bordering arrogance – when the camera is in my hand. It’s rare having this feeling but when I do, I just start firing off photos without a care.
I put this photo in my photobook and my mother asked me “did you ask to take this?” where I bluntly responded “No.”
This is one of those photos where its about capturing moments above anything and I love this minor moment of love.
A little story for the three above.
If you frequent this site, you're aware of ECKOES who I saw live @ Laylow earlier in '23. I saw her again later in the year for another headline show. Along with her was another artist that I enjoyed discovering who goes by the moniker Junkheart.
Starting on the left: I love ECKOES in motion and the arm movement whilst her head remains clear makes this photo one of my favourites of her.
It's evident that the lights really made these photos pop and the 2nd photo of ECKOES on the right along with her eyes right on the same level fascinate me.
Finishing in the middle photo: I appreciate the jacket Junkheart wore for the show as it provided an interesting contrast along with the purple lights right above.
The final five photos are a mini-set of some of my favourite things: Night-time, South Bank and a great subject.
This is Tayah, an artist I interviewed late last year. Whilst the sound quality of the interview will forever haunt me, (Spin here) it was one of my favourite interviews so far. I asked her afterwards if I could take a few photos and after editing 19 photos, she picked these five as ones I could post on here.
As visualised in the first couple of photos, I love pressing the shutter when people aren't aware of me pressing it. So for a few of these, Tayah wasn't aware I was taking them. (big ups Electronic Shutter!)
I adore the colours of these photos and with the lights illuminating the area (Christmas in South Bank is beautiful) it makes for a great mini-set. I've been wanting to post these ever since I took them so its fitting they cap off part one.
