 A Night With Boy Blue

@ Barbican (Photocall)

Date Taken: 10th May 2025

Recipes Used:

The good people @ Barbican hooked your boy up again for another double up!

In the same vein as the Lil.Miss.Lady post from earlier in the year, you can read my words of the two days that I was afforded to see their panel talk, the show itself and right in the middle of them, a photocall!

The latter of which is what you’re looking at right now. If you came here from the 5E Medium post, big love. If you came here first, be sure to read my words over on the 5E Medium.

Let’s not waste time and jump right into the best of my 222 photos!

I’m going to break this up from performance to performance, of which there was plenty to capture. I didn’t balance myself well however, taking a ton of pictures in the first half and then realising I got a bit trigger happy.

There were also performances done by children which I didn’t shoot at the request of my hosts. A blessing in disguise since I would’ve ran out of space with maybe three performances to go!

Yes I know I need to get another SD Card…

This next performance was done to the tune of Doechii’s “Anxiety” which – fun fact – was the first time I’ve heard the song in its entirety.

Next was one of two performances done by some Dance students from Glasgow to the tune of some classical music. Street Dance & Classical, who would’ve thought it! I’ll add a few from the 2nd performance here as well.

Next was one of the more colourful performances, done to the tune of Yussef Dayes' “Black Classical Music”.

This next one was one of my favourites visually. Rain coats, umbrellas and some solid lighting.

A quick one now since the majority of them were pre-teens, I decided to focus on the more senior performers in this student/master motif. My favourite from an entertainment standpoint.

Next was a big ensemble performance which was a bit difficult throughout the day because I sacrificed depth of field for a bigger aperture but I think I got some decent ones here.

To finish of: A combination of two performances near the end. The prior three to the tune of SAULT’s “Angel” which as a storytelling piece was very moving.

A big thanks to Boy Blue & Barbican for having me once again. I’m personally very happy with how this came out.

Once again, if you haven’t read my accompanying piece documenting my overall journey past the Photocall, you can spin it here.
