Tiggs Da Author

The last two weeks of March was certainly a whirlwind for me. I initially was going into them with three shows booked.
I ended up hitting two more shows which meant in the space of seven days I hit five shows.
The good news is that I enjoyed them all! The less good news is that I only got worthy sets of photos out of three of them. Which is what I would’ve had starting the week, so I can’t complain.
In 2021, Tiggs Da Author dropped "Blame It On The Youts", and went number 13 on my Top 20 Albums of that year. I went back to read what I wrote and, well, here's how I capped it:
"… high quality Afro-fusion that I would love to see live and shout the lyrics to. I can firmly plant my flag and say that Tiggs Da Author is one of the best songwriters in the UK, just off the strength of 'Blame It On The Youts'."
Poetic if I say so myself. But before we get to the main, we need to peep another artist that supported Tiggs, one I've been into since last year…
With her EP "What It's Like To Be Young", (which made my Top 22 EPs of 2022) Cristale is one of those artists where you see the talent instantly. Her performance mainly over Drill beats are something to behold.
I go into a lot of shows not actually knowing who the support is, or even if there is support at all! But this was one of the more pleasant surprises.
Like I said in my words about BIOTY, I was anticipating singing his songs live and boy was it enjoyable. As you’ll see, there was a military theme to the show, punctuated by the “General Tiggs” fit.
And – funny enough – my initial wonder of “he has to be baking in that” was heard when he dipped out during a solo to take a majority of the gear off.
Apologies to the drummer who had THE biggest ginger afro you’ve ever seen in your life. With that said, the show was magnificent. Everything I could’ve hoped for from one of the best songwriters in the country…
