Story time!
So whilst I was at the LOX show, a woman came up to me before the performance and asked me if I was the photographer for the label. (I wish) I said “no, just me!”. Turns out, she was the Social Media Manager for The Jazz Café!
Middle, middle, middle, this show was for the good people @ The Jazz Café! To the point where I had to have this set uploaded, edited, exported & sent within 24 hours, a challenge that I haven’t done before but was fun to do!
Of all places to get this opportunity eh! I felt very lucky for this one and since I had a brief, I did things a little differently which will become clear as I go.
We begin with the support: Kaya Fyah & The Fyah Band.
We then moved onto the main event: Brotherly quartet The League of Rebelz who were celebrating the release of their debut album “Jam House”.
Now in this next set, something changes, two points if you can guess what that change is…
That’s right, these boys SWITCH instruments! Several times during the performance!
And the quality does not dip in the slightest. The only difference is demeanour when at the mic singing. Expressiveness fluctuates but considering the songs fluctuate in tone and style makes the vocal changes make more sense.
I can’t express through a photography post how impressive their musicianship is between the four of them. I’ve never seen anything like it.

It was at this point I started moving around and switched my 35mm for my 75mm. But I didn’t just move around the floor.
For the first time ever I went upstairs and shot around the stage, including the balcony behind the stage lights.
As you could imagine, I rushed out as soon as the show was done to get home and upload & cull the photos as quick as possible so I could get to editing as soon as I could the next day.
It was great knowing I could get a full edit done within 24 hours. A bit much if it was a festival for example but a Reggae show @ The Jazz Café? No sweat!
Thanks to Abigail @ The Jazz Café for the opportunity once again. And go spin “Jam House”! It’s not every day we get a homegrown Reggae band!
