Welcome back to Part Two of The 50 Pack: A five-part miniseries, picking out my 50 best/favourites from August '23 to February '24.
Lets swiftly get to our next 10!
Taken with my favourite default recipe "New America", I caught this woman with a fire fit walk through groups of people sat down and enjoying their time at a local celebration of Jamaican independence.
The manual focus gives this a softness which you can clock if you zoom in a little, but I feel it adds some character. Above everything, it is her walking in to the sunlight and the fit mixing in with the sky. Adore the colours for this one.
I took a few photos of this brother/sister duo that was always up to something as their mother chatted on the phone.
But the best for me was this moment of the older brother carrying his little sister, long enough for me to capture the moment.
Oh how I adore this couple. This is only two stills but believe me when I say the flow of shots I got for these two as they were dancing make me smile every time I look at them.
One of my favourite candid moments of last year.
The one and only entry in this series that’ll have the dog in it, this one was a quick exercise in framing. I think I got it pretty on point here! The two bookends, then the leading line to the subject and one more frame within to box the dog’s face.
One of my better technical pics.
Just about to go for a walk and oh look! A cat! I saw them and the night light caught them nice.
I wasn’t expecting the photo to be good but I was very happy with the result. I love the blue tint and how the solitary eye just draws you in.
Unlikely Friends.
Another fun “frame-within-frame” shot and a great use of my manual lens. With its great focusing, the squared fencing in front of me gave a great view to this random duo of a Hare and some Buddhist paraphernalia .
To finish, three from the same day as my mother and my sister’s friend Claire were chopping it up outside in the garden.
I took many photos that I love that day but these three stick out, chiefly the two of my mum because they’re both technically clean and getting a moment of joy from her captured is one I’ll hold forever.
