Welcome back to Part Three of The 50 Pack: A five-part miniseries, picking out my 50 best/favourites from August '23 to February '24.
Let us delve into the next 10 bangers!
As you can imagine, there were A LOT of contenders from Notting Hill Carnival '23 I could've added onto The 50 Pack – as I type this its a little odd I'm not going to make a post about the day like I did in '22 (Spin here) – but nevertheless, this is two of four overall that will be in The 50 Pack.
These are a type of photo I love getting: people walking past & me getting a quick snap. The KP160 recipe that I always use for NHC gives the picture a throwback tone and the litany of vibes make them both enticing photos for me in different ways.
yeet!
I went out to the seafront one afternoon and have a few bangers coming from that day, but the first one to see is this kid absolutely yeeting a rock into the water in front of him.
I'm happy I did this in Black & White, (Mono Koda, specifically) the clouds, sea and sand really break the photo up into neat horizontal thirds, leaving for the main subject to just do what they do.
With the prior photo and this one taken within minutes of each other, this was one that I knew was an instant banger once I cropped it the way I wanted.
Considering they’re seagulls, I didn’t want to mess around to optimise the shot or anything. If only there was two more seagulls to cover the empty bases, perfection is so close. But I like the photo regardless. Leads the eye nicely.
Whilst taking in a summer night, I took some night pics of D’s brother, Nick. As you can see by his reaction, he found it weird I was taking pictures of him but ironically these two are some of my favourite portraits I have done so far.
The 1st for the light reflection/tight focus and the 2nd one for its clarity and the cars from behind me catching his face just right.
Finishing off this part of The 50 Pack is four of my favourites for what was my first time doing a studio style shoot! And whilst we’re here, say hello to Damian! My (not by blood) nephew!
Whilst I could’ve used a different lens and the lighting could’ve been better, it’s the people in the image that made the photos worth its weight in gold; I couldn’t be happier with the moments captured.
