The good people at The Jazz Café gave me the opportunity to cover one of the best Saxophonists in the country who has been doing it for 20 years now and shows no signs of stopping.
YolanDa Brown comes through with a special type of show: A Bob Marley Songbook! So Bob Marley but make it Jazz. Can’t imagine something more up my alley.
She’s also dropping an album of the same ilk so you’ll get a taste of what I experienced on this night.
But as always – we’re here for photos – so let’s get into them. We begin with the band, who I didn’t cover in the way I like because lighting wasn’t the most democratic. But we move!
Now for YolanDa herself. I have over 50 (edited) shots of her for this so I’ll be selective for this one and split it into a colour & monochrome set.
Let’s begin with the prior.
And now for the monochrome which I think is the best for last.
It’s evident to see her enjoyment as a performer. It’s infectious. Laughing along, getting the crowd into it at every turn.
Not to mention the top-tier musicianship. I thoroughly enjoyed this show and can’t wait for the album itself.
