This one has been in the chamber for a minute but here we go. A bumper set of some top tier Street Art & Grafitti.

Southend City Jam was a cool art festival that went down in and around the local high street. Whilst the festival only went on officially from the 30th August to the 1st September, remnants of the festival will (I hope) still live on as the city continues to rejuvenate itself.

I wanted to be as completionist as possible with this one and got a photo of at least 95% of the entire thing. Of that 95%, you’re probably going to see about 60% because I’m a dipshit that wore sunglasses whilst shooting manual so some of my shots were out of focus.

Nevertheless, I have a story to tell, pictures to show and art to gass up. So let’s begin.

All pictures were taken over three days: the first being on the 31st August during the festival but instead of doing the usual chronological order I’m going to go from location to location.

First things first: Self-Portrait.

Location 1 – located next to Victoria Station and in front The Range Car Park – featured Hcuar, Nyces, Rob Hilken & Gnasher. (NOTE: I’m going to mention all names to big them up but their art may not feature)

Next is Location 2 which was dubbed “Cube Collab” – for reasons that’ll be obvious – featuring Doppel, Jody, Hilt & Posea.

Next is Location 3 which was located under Victoria Shopping Centre (Kind of, there’s a road that goes under the High Street entrance) and if you walk into the dark, you will witness a metric ton of top tier Grafitti.

Artists feature Morf, Pieska. Cortisol Kid, Ican, Mehsos, Paul Riot, Kato and Viki; Odisy, Ethos, Peal, Meds . Rask; Ekto, Ster, Vents, Skare, Harry, Bones, Moet, Driper and Niser.

Next was Locations 4 – 8 which were located in and around the University Library, featuring Tech Moon; Project 49, Abbey Parsons, Sharon Stone, (Not that Sharon Stone) Joanna Rose Tidey, Craig Hallums, Sarah Jane, Charlie Stafford, Lisa Stone, Paris, Neil Fendell; Skosh, John Bulley. Drake, Skeen, Qwynto & Snub23.

Next is the Pop-Up Park which featured 25+ artists and stretched through a significant chunk of the High Street. This was one of my favourite parts of the festival. Front and centre, watching the artists craft, people taking photos and talking to the artists. That’s what it’s all about!

Next up the High Street and under the bridge was Shauna. I’m not sure if she also did “Fear-Less” but it’s opposite so I’ll throw it in here.

Let’s keep going down the High Street and bleed into the Seafront with Locations 24-27 which features Yeko, Church Of Best Ever, Conse, Farid Rueda; Stine, Brave, Reasm & Ricky Also.

Let’s take a sharp turn to Lucy Road where the dead body of Chameleon Nightclub still stands and Talk (RIP, the only club I genuinely liked) is now a Bowling alley. (Amongst other things)

They set a backdrop for the works of Atch, Amuk, Agony, Jasik, Poer, Wontr, Raek, Omyd, Fusi, Demane, Zena, Arms, Bias; Jim Vision, Luke Smile, Tris, Questz, Flipping Zombies, Lily & Sprite.

We’re going to go around and back up the seafront for locations 28-30; 32, 35 and 37 with Ejits @ Twenty One, Mr Dheo, Mr Cenz; Asur; James Jetlag, Ed Hicks, Title, Sky High; Maria Rosa, Chris Guest, Eyesaw & Laylas.

Two fat sets incoming, the first is a cluster of art, situated in two car parks touching Alexandra Street. These are locations 12-22 featuring Curtis Hylton, JXC; Ants, Fresco, Micro 79; Dante Arcade, Smug; Stocke, Sotep; Woskerski, Jay Kaes; Mr Zero, Joe Greenaway, Vincent Box, Darry Perrier, Humor; Ekto & Roo.

The last and most fat set comes at Warrior Square & the skate/kid’s park next to it which featured over 60 artists.

This was a bitch to do at the time because The Sun was shining in full force so it was hard to get a consistent look throughout. Regardless, it’s the biggest set of the bunch.

And to finish, some other miscellaneous shots I got throughout the few days including D, LD, Nick, Priya & Nick’s daughter Esme who is making her debut here!
