Fujifilm Superia 100

Recipes – Part 18

Time for a new recipe which I did in conjunction with a Black & White recipe, of which you can see here if you haven't already.

I went to a new source for this recipe. A thanks to Piotr Skrzypek who created a banger recipe for Fujifilm's Superia 100. (also known as Reala 100)

What is Superia 100?

According to 50mmf2.com:

"Reala 100 belongs to the Superia line of films although initially it was released without the Superia label. Although Superia line is/was mainly aimed at the consumer market with some hands also grabbing for that enthusiast bucket – Reala was mainly targeted for professionals and enthusiasts.

It's a 100 speed film made for C-41 process that according to Fujifilm themselves 'delivers exceptional color accuracy' (thanks to the mythical 4th color layer) and 'has the finest and smoothest grain and the best sharpness of all Superia films' (as one would expect from a ISO 100 film)."

So like in the B&W Recipe Test, we begin with some gardening w/ my boy D and goings on around his family’s home:

Next, I took a walk down the local beach with my new lens to see what I can do with a all-manual setup.

Also during this test, I spent six days house-sitting for a friend of my dad’s, which included her two children and their cat.

The younger one was bored one day, so we went to play basketball, something I haven’t done since 1st year of Uni. (My jump shot is non-existent now.) We also played with a few guys that were already there. (Where I hit a game-winner with a backwards layy.)

I hate that rim with all my heart…

A lot of firsts here I’m just realising! I also went to a local Folk Festival which provided great vibes and plenty of dogs.

The recipe as a whole is solid, but I've already replaced it with another recipe built for night-time photography. Potentially a companion for the CineStill 800T recipe I've had for a while.

Or could it be an outright replacement?! We shall see…
