April/May '24

April and May were a solid couple of months for me personally. Most notably: I turned 28 and I’m starting to get Photography passes to shows! The first of which will come in a couple posts time.

But for now, I look back to the odd days where I was out and about with Gina in tow.

Let’s go through chronologically, starting with April 18th, same day as the Blue Lab Beats show…

A cloudy day in and around Barbican posed for some interesting moments from the kids running past above me to the many examples of Graffiti/Street Art. One photo I wanted to isolate was this:

Woman In Blue

Like I said, it was a cloudy day, very unimpressive from a weather standpoint. But after crossing the road, I noticed this woman in a beautiful shade of blue with some boots to contrast.

I took a snap and kept it moving but after looking at it, I wanted to do something special for it. So I isolated her, turned everything Black & White and boom. Woman In Blue.

29th April

This little banger of a self-portrait came late at night, just a minute out of home. There was a broken mirror left by a nearby public bin and conveniently for me it was standing opposite the local Pharmacy which emits a bright yellow signage.

It posed for a grungy snap where I crushed the blacks to make a cool silhouette.

May 10th was a great day from my lens. (Pun intended) The Sun was beaming and everyone was on a vibe.

Locations include Hammersmith, a Piccadilly tube ride where we were in complete darkness for the duration (A first for me! Oddly fun.) and a stroll around Oxford Circus; along with a wait for my train home @ West Ham.

Who I was with will come soon, but first, some shots I got from some bruddas that caught me snapping as I crossed the road and asked:

The look down pose is certainly a new one on me! But in any case, cool guys in the moment.

So who was I with on this day out? The homie Ryan and new homie, Suraj.

Really love these photos for different reasons. Was good kicking it with them.

Last one from that day is this crispy shot that I adore from a framing perspective:

Oncoming.

Two more days to go. Below was the 13th May with another friend that’s appeared before. The set mainly revolves around Central London – I’ll let you guess specifically where – and walking home with the sunlight placed perfectly behind me…

I’m trying to get in the habit of doing more self-portraits. I have another couple in this set coming including one of my favourites of myself ever.

But who was the friend you ask?!

With me was Caroline who was in the city for the day and lucky for me, I was able to tag along. We initially met in Battersea, got some mean noodles near Victoria and proceeded to walk in between Victoria and Westminster.

The highlight of the day – past seeing Caroline, of course – was a sighting of this absolute G…

I looked up specifically the type of waterfowl this is. It is a Greylag Goose! They’re very common in Europe and Asia and we saw him just kicking it by The Thames.

You know I had to get a picture. One for the end of year book for sure.

Last mini-set comes in Camden as I was waiting for a show, mainly in Black & White here as I just felt like doing that in the moment.

Shout out to the cat. A few minutes after taking that photo, I saw a “Missing Cat” photo, thinking “I just took a picture of that cat!” I rung up the number, met the potential owner and after sending him the images and telling him where I took them, was told in an E-Mail after that it wasn’t his cat unfortunately.

Any who, photos from that show coming soon. But it’s wraps for this post. I leave you with one of my favourite self-portraits so far…
